TREE DISPOSAL: Free Chipper

The New Year may mean a sore head for some or a resolution for others but for many, it also means it’s time to dispose of the Christmas tree!

The City of Ames will provide free disposal of Christmas trees at the Parks & Recreation Maintenance Shop, 1125 E. 13th Street.

The wood chipper will be running on two designated drop-off days. They are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, January 4th and Saturday, January 5th.

The Christmas trees will be recycled into chips, which will be used in City of Ames parks.

If Ames residents miss that weekend, trees can be dropped off at the Parks & Recreation Maintenance Shop during daylight hours throughout the winter.  The driveway will be marked with a sign.  The tree stand, tinsel, and all ornaments should be removed from the tree.
