A Des Moines man is facing 45 felony charges following a hotel party in Ames.
Ames police responded to the Econo Lodge on Southeast 16th Street on December 2, where they found a party in one of the rooms with more than 20 people.
Witness say 23-year-old Deon Owens displayed a handgun at the party and was trying to rob people. Party attendees tried to get the gun when it was accidentally fired. No one was hit, but the bullet went through two walls and a door.
Owens ran when Officers arrived, but they found him on Monday at Des Moines home in the 1900 block of Southeast Bell.
Owens is charged with 45 counts, including robbery, intimidation and assault.
Authorities say additional arrests stemming from the party are expected.
