CHURCH FIRE: Ames Woman Sentenced
The Ames woman convicted of setting fire to a church was sentenced on Monday.
In September, 51-year-old Tina Meyer set a couch on fire inside St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
She pleaded guilty to charges of arson and criminal mischief in December.
A judge ruled she will serve 10 years in prison for the crime.
Court records say Meyer was upset with the church when she set the fire because they refused to provide her additional support after helping her move to a new residence.
She will also pay $2,000 in fines and restitution for the damage which has yet to be determined.
